I have a 97 Acura integra gsr and I wanna do a ton of stuff to it, but I don't know much about cars. So what should I get to start with for my car? I want to be really proud of my car and wanna take pride in it or whatever ha. What im doing now is getting new sound system and I'm spending about 500 probably. I just need help!

You just wasted 500 bucks. If you want performance you don't jam extra weight and electrical draw into the car because you'll start having problems first electrically then mechanically. Get a chilton and learn how a car works...or don't.

I don't know what kind of friend this is, but a good stereo alone, at least to my level, is going to run you around $2000-2500 for a moderate system that just sounds good, and that's just parts. I live by the motto that it's cheaper to spend a little more the first time, than to have to do it again. Ultimately, be proud of your car because you're proud of the car, not because of what you've done to it. Figure out your goal and go from there.

Yeah, you don't need extra weight, but your not making a freaking drag car so who cares?

Obviously, first you gotta get your cold-air intake. Easy to install and will get the tuner bug going inside you...

THEN, If I were you, I'd spend money on the suspension. With the right set-up - HR Springs and Tokico Blues shocks and strut tower bars - you will be loving it. It will be like a new car and it will reignite your passion to drive! These GS-Rs already have adequate power, so make it a sportier handler. I think the integra double-wishbone suspension is still the best. You might not beat people off the line YET, but you will kill them on real roads. You know, roads with turns?

Then get your choice of exhaust systems. There are hundreds to choose from.

you need to decide on an overall goal first. update your info and i can help you further.

whats the car's purpose going to be? something you can zip around the streets with and show off to friends or are you looking for something to show off at the track?

how much money (total) do you want to spend?

what's your horsepower goal?

answer these and i can help you further, simple bolt ons (cold air intake, intake manifold, and exhaust header) might be your best bet, or building the engine and turbo charging it might be. all depends.
