the acura. the RX8 is a very unique car because of its engine. being a rotary, you will have different maintenance issues that require having a mechanic trained to work specifically on that car. the RSX has a conventional engine and will have conventional issues.
that being said since both of these would be used, the conditions in which you get them will play the biggest role. an RSX treated poorly by the previous owner will rack up more maintenance fees than a well cared for RX-8. keep in mind that both of these cars are popular among car enthusiasts and they will typically be driven very hard. if you want something sporty, look for cars that are unintentionally quick like a BMW 335 or similar type cars. these are more likely to have well behaved owners who don't run them to the ground before selling them.

The RX-8 is a better drivers car, hands down.
The RSX is a better first car. It's slower, more reliable and far more fuel efficient. There are many reports of RX-8s blowing the engine with just 40-50k miles on them.
And just to contradict Nicolas, even an abused RSX will cost less to maintain and be less trouble than a pristine RX-8.

Here is a mission for you. Call every local repair shop in your town other than a Mazda dealer and ask them if they know how to repair a "Wankle Engine" Oh and the next question is which other auto companies sell it? Why is Wankle not found on any major racing circuits? etc. etc.
