cheapest is adding a vtec head because you have the block already.

if you are going for turbo add the turbo without changing the head.

Cheap and fast is not reliable

Reliable and cheap is not fast

Lastly, Fast and reliable is not cheap.

Ls/vtec's can be reliable as long as you build it properly ie, ARP rod bolts, ARP/Golden Eagle head studs, Golden Eagle vtec conversion kit would be a good start for an ls/vtec.

You could also do a B20/vtec which is essentially the same but with a B20 block.

A GSR motor would be a good choice, so would a type R motor.

But I would NEVER get a B16 motor for an Integra. B16's have no torque what-so-ever.

As for if you do decide to turbo, get a good reputable kit such as drag and revhard [no e-bay/ssautochrome kits, they are known to break and have many issues]

If you do decide to get a vtec motor and turbo it, you won't have any issues as long as its tuned correctly. People say ls motors are better for boost because they have a lower compression ratio but in reality it is not better, just safer.

Higher compression like of a GSR or Type R is better for making power due to the fact that when you turbo or supercharge you are raising you static compression ratio.

A stock GSR motor with your average t3/t4 turbo on about 9-10 pounds of boost and a very good tune can easily see about 300whp while still being reliable.

Well that girl I believe did a great good explaing so I try to add on, theres not real way to be fast and cheap and reliable? I would suggest to first look at you HP goals and 1/4. For me I would get a shorter gear tranny such as a B16 or even GSR hmotorsonline.com sells LSD hydro models for $950 plus shipping that alone will make your car a heck of lot faster. Next would then have to be an aftermarket intake manifold such as OBX(its cheap and good enough) or skunk2, if not look into a throttle body of a typer R or larger then the one you have you might need to port match it. I personally had an LS with Cams valves and springs and that set me back about $860 at the time B16 trans and 100 shot of nitrous tune on a 1992 Civic hatchback and low 13's on street tires at the track I later installed B16 head and clip 12's with the same street tires that was my cheap build up.

ls v-tec is not bad its the dumb people that dont know what there doing with there motor 1st problem- v-tec head call for more oil so run a oil line from the block to the head....2nd problem is if you compare the pistons on any v-tec motor and non v-tec motor those little indents on the top of the pistons or deeper on v-tec pistons so get gsr pistons...3rd problem the bottom end on ls are weak so eagle rods are cheap and come with arp 2000 rod blots all together you'll spend like less than 1300 on everything and getting a swap will be like 3 or 4 grand ls v-tec can last if you do it right people expect to slap a v-tec head on a ls block and hope it runs right do it right and it won't go KABOOM!! in 15,000 miles but gsr is still the best way to go

just make you integra v-tec. I had a 94 integra ls once and I was going to put a VTech head on it and computer but i crashed it. you will get a lot of power with VTech. and put a air intake and exhaust good luck

i think the swap is gonna be worth more then the car, or at least come close to the cost.

why not just buy a car with the engine already in it
